Physical Activity and Life Skills
Active Tameside runs a weekly programme of sport and physical activity for adults with learning disabilities or additional needs. The programme focuses on providing a safe and fun environment that encourages groups to bond through sport and activity.
The goal of the coaching team is to make all activities as enjoyable and engaging as possible, offering a range of activities to help to improve health and well-being. These include, boccia, swimming, football, trampolining, dance, drama and arts and crafts.
Active Medlock is home to a life skills learning hub to support adults with a range of learning disabilities. Support services include a range of learning-based programmes, access to work experience for adults with disabilities and the chance to undertake an apprenticeship with Active Tameside. The facility also has a cutting-edge sensory room.
These programmes remove the barriers that adults with learning disabilities face. They provide a safe environment to engage everyone in physical activity and develop employment and life skills.
