Radcliffe Temporary Pool
Bury Leisure, working with Total Swimming, has built a 25-foot modular temporary swimming pool – the first of its kind in the country. Located in the heart of the Bury community, the Radcliffe temporary pool opened its doors to the public in June 2015 and now attracts thousands of visitors every year. A range of facilities have been built-in to the construction of the temporary pool. These include male and female changing villages with showers, toilets and lockers. There is also a spectator viewing area for approximately 40 people.
The temporary pool was built as Bury Leisure decided that following winter storm damage to the existing pool in Radcliffe they needed to ensure continued access to a pool and wider leisure facilities in Radcliffe. As a temporary pool the cost of development was under £1 million but still has an anticipated engineering life of up to 30 years and was built in only 14 weeks, ensuring that Radcliffe’s communities can continue to stay physically active.
