urban revolution press release

GM Active partner up with obstacle course specialist Urban Attack

GM Active is excited to announce that in collaboration with Urban Attack, the obstacle course racing specialists, we are bringing a brand new, accessible and fun race series to Greater Manchester.

Our vision is to bring obstacle course races which have over 30 obstacles to many of our organisations facilities over the next few years.

Partnering with Manchester based Urban Attack, led by ex-SAS celebrity TV Trainer and presenter on ITV’s Biggest Loser, Rob Edmond, the company are supporting us with a series of events. The events will be obstacle races with various challenges ranging from wading through water, tackling mud zones to climbing over hurdles and walls.

Sarah Broad, Strategic Partnership and Service Development Manager at GM Active, explained “We’re really looking forward to working in partnership with Urban Revolution.” She added “They’re going to be a fun packed event for all abilities where participants will meet some exciting challenges. There will be many opportunities for everyone to join in, including children’s and Teen Races, Family Entertainment and of course the big obstacles.”

This race series aren’t about winning, it’s about taking part with friends and family, trying something new and getting active across the city.

As GM Active brings together thirteen community organisations across Greater Manchester that look after 87 sport and leisure facilities, the aim is to run an event at as many as we can. At the moment there’s two activities planned, the first, a press and taster day in September and then the first main obstacle course event in November.

We’re then looking forward to revealing the venues for the 2018 events very soon. For now, we are excited for the Media and Public Taster Day at Salford Quays, Helly Hansen Watersports Centre on the 15th September. It’s a great opportunity for us to showcase some of the obstacles as well as everyone who attends to get a sneak peek and try them out.

The main event is going to be at Haigh Country Park on the 11th November. There’s two options a 5km event which is perfect if you’re a first timer and 10km for those that want to challenge themselves further. There’s also options with the options of Adults, Teens and children.
