Urban Revolution Launches Greater Manchester Obstacle Race
GM Active and Urban Attack are staging their first obstacle course race, Urban Revolution, in just over a week’s time, at Haigh Woodland Country Park, Wigan.
The race, staged over a choice of 5 or 10km, will be the start of a series that is planned throughout the Greater Manchester boroughs over the next few years. The aim is to ensure that each of GM Actives’ member organisations encourage their communities to participate, and that each member will be linked to an Urban Revolution event utilising their borough’s own unique locations.
The events are led by ex-SAS, celebrity TV Trainer and presenter of ITV’s Biggest Loser, Rob Edmond.
Rob explained, “It’s been quite a long time in the making, so we’re all looking forward to the 11th November now. There’s still places available, so if you haven’t already signed up, take a look at our website for more details.
He added, “We have some great challenges in store. A popular obstacle is one we call, ‘Take Off’, a giant water slide, which everyone enjoys, is making an appearance.
With over 30 obstacles, ranging from wading through water, through to climbing over hurdles and walls; it will be an unforgettable day.
Pete Burt, Managing Director at Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles, and Urban Revolution’s first host at Haigh Woodland Country Park, announced, “Our trust is all about encouraging people to get active and stay active. We like trying new events and looking at ways to help keep people motivated – the Urban Revolution is a welcomed addition.”
