Salford Community Leisure

Salford Community Leisure (SCL) is a Community Benefit Society with Charitable Status. An independent legal entity established in 2003, separate from Salford City Council.

SCL exists to enhance the lives of the community through the sport, library and cultural opportunities we offer across the 60+ venues we manage, which attract millions of customer visits each year.

Our services and activities are run for the benefit of our customers and the wider community and we re-invest any profits back into the community. We believe that leisure and culture should be at the heart of every community.

We deliver our purpose of “enhancing lives” through:

  • Improving Health and Wellbeing
  • Increasing Community Involvement
  • Developing Education and Skills
  • Enriching the Environment

We employ over 500+ people and pride ourselves in being a local employer with 70% of our workforce living in the City.  Across the City of Salford, we manage the following venues:

  • Cleavley Athletics Track
  • Community Centres
  • High School’s sports facilities (out of school hours)
  • Leisure Centres
  • Libraries
  • Museums
  • Park Cafes
  • Playing Pitches
  • Watersports Centre

In addition to the above venues we have numerous teams delivering community activities and services, this includes our Active Lifestyles team who help people with health conditions get active and the Greater Manchester Prehab4cancer programme that SCL host on behalf of GM.
