What will my role be as a Heritage Coordinator? 

The purpose of the Heritage Coordinator role is to lead on the coordination and delivery of a National Lottery Heritage Fund project, titled The Dining Room Project to ensure key deadlines and milestones are met on time and to schedule. This will include working closely with key Community Partners, the Team at Touchstones Rochdale, commissioned artists and external specialists to oversee the different phases of the plan.

What do I need to have?

  • Qualified to Degree Level or equivalent in a culture, health or community field or qualified by experience
  • Substantial experience of working on heritage projects drawing on diverse material culture/collections (object and non-object-based) for engagement and display purposes
  • Produced interpretation (in range of formats including digital) and carried out research for collections/heritage-based displays
  • Experience of working with diverse and at times vulnerable communities (including young people) as equal partners to curate displays and programmes of activity
  • Experience of supporting artists in the successful delivery of site-specific installations and liaising with specialists such as architects, designers and technicians
  • An awareness of environmental sustainability and how this can be applied to every aspect of the project
  • A flexible approach to working in a variety of different contexts – with communities in public locations as well as museum and heritage spaces
  • A commitment to working in a multi-media and interdisciplinary team and to contributing to the development of collective works, which may involve some translation/post-production into a coherent group visual language
  • Ability to work within a team with common objectives with a can-do attitude, a high degree of flexibility and the ability to respond proactively
  • Creative, imaginative and motivated to share and develop new skills and a willingness to learn new facilitation techniques
  • Excellent communication; both oral and written and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management skills
